As more and more students pursue careers in STEM, degrees and jobs in the art industry are on the decline. In this episode of On The Record, Sidekick staff designer Ahana Roy and senior Mithun Mekala discuss artists pursuing careers in STEM-related fields rather than art.

Ahana Roy
Ahana Roy, Staff Designer
Ahana Roy is a junior and 2nd year staff designer on The Sidekick. After moving to Texas in 2021, she discovered The Sidekick through her ninth grade Arts, A/V Technology class. She has a passion for drawing, designing and writing and is excited to be on the staff for another year. Being an artistic person, Ahana loves drawing. You can usually find her cooped up on her chair drawing on her drawing tablet on weekends. In her free time Ahana loves reading romance webcomics and manga, playing RPG video games, and watching TV shows. You can contact her at [email protected]
Sabah Uddin
Sabah Uddin, Communications Manager
Sabah Uddin is a senior and the communications manager for The Sidekick. Her favorite part of being a student journalist is being able to cover events and meet people she never would’ve known before. Through The Sidekick she has gotten to step out of her comfort zone in discovering sports photography and feature writing. When she’s not covering an event for The Sidekick or competing with the Coppell High School DECA chapter, you can find her exploring new restaurants and cafes.
