It is the bottom of the second inning on a chilly evening and the Lewisville baseball team takes a lead over Coppell. But it would not be long until the Cowboys got three runs in that same inning, securing their 3-1 victory against the Farmers on Friday at Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex.
Coppell juniors Mason Trichell and Jackson Floren had consecutive singles in the second inning. Coppell junior Zander Montgomery’s triple scored both Trichell and Floren to give Coppell a 2-1 lead.
“ I made a mistake in the outfield, so I just made up for it and it felt great,” Montgomery said. “Good team win overall”
The Farmers tightened its defense to keep the game close by not allowing Coppell baserunners to gain leads off first base.
“We were just trying to keep it close to the bag and ended up picking them off,” Lewisville baseball coach Stephen Campbell said.”
Coppell plays Denton Braswell at 7 p.m. Tuesday at CISD Baseball/Softball Complex.
“I think we were excellent on the mound and we had some very good timely hitting. We put pressure on them quite a bit in multiple innings and it paid off,” Coppell coach
Armando Garza. “I think that we’re increasing our momentum.”
