The Buddy Echols Field screen flashes the final results of the Coppell Relays. Coppell track and field owns the top score for all teams.
Coppell coach Eric Hill is always steps ahead of each meet. Hill plans each practice accordingly to ensure a healthy balance of training and recovery time.
“I continue to adjust workouts, giving our kids the correct amount of recovery time and preparing to taper down after next week,” Hill said.
The next step is bringing home every award and extending the winning streak.
“We won the district title in 2021, 2022, 2023 and placed second in district in 2024. Our first goal is to bring a district title back to Coppell High School,” Hill said. “Last year we finished second in the region and had a third place finisher in the state. Obviously we want to surpass that this year.”
Sophomore sprinter Hannah Polito ran three events and set a personal record of 12.30 seconds for the 100-meter run. Sophomore Mia Schuller participated in four events, high jump, long jump, pole vault and 100-meter hurdles. A time of 15.24 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles won her the event, pole vault with 11-feet tying the PR and earning second place.
“I am looking forward to improving my marks and seeing the results that I have worked so hard for this past season,” Schuller said.
