The Sierra Club is to continue the year with its next meeting on Monday, September 28 after school at 4 in E205. The members are collaborating with AP Environmental Science students to collect data on the amount of waste saved by recycling.
The Sierra Club has replaced the Ecology Club at CHS as a program to protect communities, wildplaces and the planet. The club specifically promotes a safe and healthy community in which to live, smart energy solutions to resist global warming and protection of wild places and animals.
Over the summer, CHS has partnered with Lutron Technologies to install a daylight harvesting system in Mrs. Anderson’s room, E205. In addition, install dimmers and occupancy sensors have been set up in the room to collect data on how much energy is saved by using the harvesting system.
This will supplement the Sierra Club in their investigations at CHS as a beneficial tool in helping discover environment-friendly technology. Hopefully, these new innovations will be administered to the rest of the building.
