Almost every school year since 2021, Coppell has been no stranger to extreme winter weather.
Like clockwork, the inevitable time in our school year has come, where we are met with chilling weather, ice, sleet and snow days.
Snow days are undoubtedly a unique experience for schools in Texas where we are used to a warmer, drier climate. And since we are not used to crazy winter weather, when it does make an appearance, we are not exactly equipped to continue our day to day lives.
That is one drawback of having a snow day; all of us are under a kind of natural house arrest.
When it comes to northern states receiving heavy amounts of snow, they have systems in place to deal with winter. This way, people can still drive safely and enjoy the snow while going about their daily lives.
It is also ironic how mentally checked out we get at a simple prospect of a snow day. This year especially, the snow days being at the start of the semester excite everyone as they are able to get another taste of vacation. Thus, causing lethargy throughout the campus as opposed to tackling the second semester head on.
