As Christmas approaches, many places become decked out in lights and festive decor. The Sidekick CHS9 editor Anvita Bondada shares places to celebrate and embrace festivities.

While Coppell’s weather has taken its time to catch up to winter, residents have been showing their Christmas spirit in more ways than one through community events and holiday-centric venues. Whether you want to show off your ice skating skills or stay inside with a warm cup of hot chocolate, these four places are a certain way to enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones.

Dubbed the Christmas Capital of Texas, Grapevine’s Historic District personifies the holiday spirit. With a plethora of holiday-themed shops, Christmas lights, decorations and an ice skating rink, this district is the perfect place to visit on a December night. The historic district is decorated from Dec. 1 to Jan. 1.

The Doctor’s Office, Post Office and Carpenter of the The Pauline and Austin Neuhoff Christmas Village showcased at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden on Friday. The Arboretum held its fourth annual “Holiday at the Arboretum” from Nov. 9-Jan. 5 which included a Christmas Village, Twelve Days of Christmas Gazebos and Dazzling Musical Tree.

Those who appreciate nature and are looking for an excuse to take a scenic walk in the heart of winter can enjoy the 12 days of Christmas exhibit at the Dallas Arboretum. With intricate holiday light fixtures, to events such as galas and charity dinners throughout December, you can get lost in the trappings of Dallas’ favorite exhibits from Dec. 10 to Jan. 8.

Kicking off with Andy Brown’s annual Christmas tree lighting last week, Andy Brown Park is decorated with a 65-foot tall Christmas tree, lit-up gift, sleigh and snow fixtures, and lights throughout the park. You can enjoy these decorations while taking a stroll or having a winter picnic.
