Who is going to run the district? Will it be the Lewisville football team (4-2, 3-0) or the Coppell football team (6-0, 3-0)?
On Friday at Lewisville’s Max Goldsmith Stadium, the Farmers host the Cowboys in a battle for first place in District 5-6A.
With Coppell looking to extend its win streak, it has a tough test ahead.
“We are going to contain them, complete our assignments and hopefully get out of there with a win,” Coppell coach Antonio Wiley said.
Being the No. 10 team in Class 6A, Coppell looks to debunk the Farmers amidst the expectation of winning.
“I tell my guys to not even look at those rankings,” Wiley said. “The great thing about football is that the No. 10 seed can lose to the No. 50 seed. It is an unpredictable sport.”
Defeating Lewisville last year in an upset, Wiley expects Lewisville to come out energized to avenge the loss.
“There is no doubt in my mind that Lewisville will show up amped and ready to go,” Wiley said. “We just have to match that intensity and focus.”
With the district title potentially on the line, Coppell and Lewisville will be under the lens and attention of scouts.
