Recently, a handful of students have committed suicide, each because of a common and preventable problem: bullying. While bullying is a problem that most students face in some form or another while growing up, not everyone has to endure the same level of severity with which these kids had to deal with on a daily basis.
Why in the world do some people feel the need to treat others – other human beings – this way? With the advent of Facebook and online chat sites, it’s just so much easier to insult someone and then hide behind an anonymous screen name. What we need to realize is that those people that we insult are, in fact, actual people with actual feelings. Maybe then, we won’t have students killing themselves over the way they’ve been treated.
