Cheers echo from the stands as the Coppell junior outside hitter Ryan Kate Hoerman spikes the ball, winning the third set after losing the first two. However, the Cowgirls were unable to continue the momentum through the fourth set.
Coppell ended the match with a 16-25, 18-25, 25-20, 20-25 loss against Flower Mound Marcus on Friday at CHS Arena.
After losing the first two sets, Coppell coaches changed the lineup slightly to allow sophomore outside hitter Brooke Felix to hit from the right side, which proved to be beneficial to the Cowgirls’ offense by forcing Marcus to play out of system.
Beginning with an ace serve by senior setter Carolina Ufret, the Cowgirls maintained a lead for the majority of the third set.
“We just decided to shake off the past two sets and focus on our energy,” Felix said.
However, the team struggled to pull ahead in the fourth set, allowing Marcus to stay in the lead for the majority of the set.
Throughout the match, the Cowgirls struggled to sustain leads
“I feel like it was like a roller coaster of emotions and we were up and down; just overall not our best game,” Felix said.
Coppell plays at Hebron on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
