Coppell tennis defeated Denton Braswell, 19-0, on Tuesday at the Coppell Tennis Center. Coppell is currently 16-4.
“The matches went great, and we’re looking strong in doubles,” Coppell tennis coach Alyssa Noonan said. “Here in Coppell, we have a ton of talented singles players, so doubles is an area we have been trying to grow everybody’s game.”
Coppell senior Aneesh Thummala and freshman Leyton Wang won their doubles match, 6-0, 6-1.
“Overall, we stayed really consistent and made less errors,” Wang said. “We focused on hitting winners and staying patient to wait until they mess up.”
During practice, double strategies and movements were targeted to secure victory during doubles matches.
“Since the start of the season, we’ve definitely improved our doubles, and we’re trying to figure out our best pairings for the upcoming playoffs,” Noonan said. “We’re going to keep grinding because you’ve got to hit a lot of tennis balls to become consistent.”
