Cross Country Luke’s Relay Recap 08/24

@coppell_track_xc boys and girls varsity teams competed at the Luke’s Locker Relay on Aug. 24 at Norbuck Park in Dallas. The teams placed fifth and sixth place respectively, looking ahead to the Marcus Coach T. invitational on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Coppell cross country team sent five teams to Norbuck Park in Dallas to compete in the Luke’s Locker Relay. For this relay, teams competed with four runners per team, with each team running 1.5 miles rather than a 5K.

Coppell boys Srivanth Rudrangi, Tanish Neelapu, Grant O’Neal and Rohit Kalpathy finished in fifth at 31:45.62. Despite players being missing due to SAT testing, the varsity boys brought home a trophy. 

Coppell JV A team Rodrick Abrego, Myles Metrano, Aiden George and Jose Murillo placed first with 34:29.40. Along with that Cowboys JV B team Farhan Mohammed, Christian Todd, Noah Law and Hugh Harris also placed first at 36:16.52. With both JV boys teams placing first, the JV boys relays were the highlight for Coppell.

On the girls side, Coppell’s Rachel Arrington, Mallory Sherrer, Annie Reeder and Maya Easterwood placed sixth at 38:48.54. Although Cowgirls varsity just fell short on taking home a trophy, Sherrer and Easterwood had the top individual times for girls.

The Cowgirls’ JV A team Shreya Shah, Rhea Bala, Delanee Mullen and Ava Garcia placed fourth with 44:04.65 elapsed. They were able​​ to bring home a trophy and Garcia had the best running time for JV girls.

On Saturday, the Coppell cross country team runs in the Marcus Coach T. Invitational at North Lakes Park in Denton.

Coppell sophomore cross country runner Maya Easterwood is a top three runner in Texas for the 5,000-meter run. Easterwood has been running since seventh grade and recently set a personal record of 16:52 in the District 5-6A Championship.

The Coppell cross country team ran on Oct. 11 at the District 5-6A Meet with sophomore Maya Easterwood placing second and senior Pranav Vegiraju placing third at North Lakes Park in Denton. The boys placed third and advance to the Class 6A Region I Championship and the girls lost the tiebreaker.
Cowboys advance as dream stays alive
On Saturday, the Coppell cross country team competed in the Jesuit Classic in Dallas. The Coppell boys placed fourth overall and the girls placed 19th.

On Friday and Saturday, the Coppell cross country team attended the Hoka/McNeil Invitational in Round Rock. Both boys and girls cross country teams placed 25th overall, with sophomore Maya Easterwood taking home a first place overall victory for the girls team.

Ahana Roy is a junior and 2nd year staff designer on The Sidekick. She has a passion for drawing, designing, and writing and is excited to be on the staff for another year. Moving to Texas in 2021, Ahana started going to Coppell ISD in 8th grade and discovered The Sidekick through her 9th grade AV Tech class. She has been enjoying being a part of the staff ever since. Being an artistic person, Ahana loves drawing. You can usually find her cooped up on her chair drawing on her drawing tablet on weekends. Along with that she also enjoys writing, designing, and programming. In terms of hobbies, in her free time  Ahana loves reading Webtoons and manga, playing video games, and watching TV shows. Her favorites show and manga is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. Along with that, in terms of academics Ahana loves to do math and learn more programming languages.
