Ramadan is a holy month for Muslims in which they fast from food, water, and outside influences to practice spiritual discipline. Its origins trace to when the Quran was revealed around 624 A.D. and is practiced globally by Muslims.

In this episode, The Sidekick editorial page editor Aliza Abidi, staff designer Safiya Azam and staff writer Hamza Zakir discuss the origins, trends and speak to Islamic Center of Coppell youth advisor Omar Malik to learn about the integral role community has within Ramadan and Islam.

Wendy Le, Podcast Producer

Wendy Le is a junior and the podcast producer of The Sidekick. Through The Sidekick, she found her passion in photography and podcasting. In her free time, she enjoys scrolling through Pinterest, capturing mundane moments on camera and spending time with her friends and family. When feeling burnt out, Le recharges her social battery by sitting in her bed and relaxing throughout the day.
