After its first district win against Plano Senior on Monday, the Coppell softball team hosts Plano West at Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Coming off of their last game, the Cowgirls have been working on their defense.
“Lately, we’ve been making too many mistakes on routine plays, so we are putting focus on our defense, and offensively, we finally had a breakout game but I want to make sure we continue our hot-hitting into this game as well,” Coppell coach Robbie Moen said. “We have also done machine work to simulate some velocity to put them in a better position all around from a hitting, defensive and a pitching standpoint.”
Moen said the Cowgirls’ mindset on Monday’s game earned them nine runs and 12 hits and he hopes the team can keep up that motivation.
“I want the girls to believe that they have an honest chance of winning, and go out there and play seven innings,” Moen said. “If we keep up a strong approach offensively and continue to believe that we can win, we can put together good, crisp innings on defense and pitching, and have a very good chance on Friday.”
