Coppell High School freshman Diya Dasari is a 2023-24 Student Council executive officer. Dasari strives to make bigger decisions, she participates in traditional Indian dance.
Why did you run for the executive officer position?
It gave me the chance to practice leadership roles. I’m looking to learn more about leadership positions and what it entails.
How has your freshman year been?
It has been good. I love meeting new people from different middle schools. I admire how dedicated the teachers are, and how nice everyone has been.
What is your favorite part about being a student council officer?
I like being a part of the bigger decision making and helping the student body in a way I couldn’t if I wasn’t a part of the council.
What are some challenges you faced while running for office?
I believe people think of student council as a popularity contest, but I think it’s the way you campaign. The hard part for me is getting people to know that I was running for a student council officer position.
What have you learned from this role?
I want to improve my communication; and leadership skills.
How do you want to be remembered as an executive officer?
I would want people to remember me as a positive person. I want to be someone who is friendly and that people could always talk to.
