The Talk: “Here to Stay”: Three Coppell media program stars highlight journalism journey for SJW

Each February, journalists and programs across the country celebrate Scholastic Journalism Week in order to highlight journalism’s importance in their lives. This year’s theme for SJW is “Here to Stay,” in light of journalism’s permanent role.

In this episode, The Sidekick’s features editor Anushree De speaks to The Sidekick executive editor-in-chief Sri Achanta, Round-Up yearbook editor-in-chief Samiksha Chemukula and KCBY-TV executive producer Archis Ukidwe as they discuss the importance of journalism and its impact on their personal lives.

About the Contributors
Anushree De, Features Editor
Anushree De is a senior and the features editor of The Sidekick, where their passion for storytelling flourishes. Their favorite films, La La Land, Zootopia, and Everything Everywhere All at Once, resonate with creative optimism, mirroring her outlook on life. Born in Topeka, Kansas, Anushree embarked on a journey that ultimately led to finding her place in Coppell during second grade. The challenging transition from charter to public school shaped Anushree into the resilient individual they are today. In her spare time, Anushree immerses herself in the enchanting world of Spanish literature, relishing the perspectives it offers. As they have started their senior year, their advice to their younger self would simply be a hug, a reminder that growth is a journey worth embracing. Anushree finds comfort in taking walks in nature as a break from her busy schedule. You can contact her through [email protected] or on X (@anushree_night).
Wendy Le, Podcast Producer
Wendy Le is a junior and the podcast producer of The Sidekick. Through The Sidekick, she found her passion in photography and podcasting. In her free time, she enjoys scrolling through Pinterest, capturing mundane moments on camera and spending time with her friends and family.  Born in Hanoi, Vietnam, she moved to the United States as an 8-year-old. Le’s childhood consisted of traveling around the world, more specifically, different parts of Asia. Constantly on the move, she finally settled down in Coppell, TX in the seventh grade, where she met some of her closest friends. When feeling burnt out, Le recharges her social battery by sitting in her bed and relaxing throughout the day. Listening to Lana Del Ray, specifically her Lust for Life album, helps bring a sense of peacefulness to her day. You can contact her at [email protected].
