On Saturday, the Coppell boys lacrosse team will plays Houston St. John’s School on Lesley Field at 1 p.m.
After a victory against Rockwall last week, Coppell has been working in practice to keep that momentum going.
“Practices have been great this week,” Coppell coach Matt Mueller said. “We’ve had an opportunity to watch some film and work on our mistakes. All of our players are buying in and working hard to help the team. From the newest player to our most experienced, everyone is doing their part.”
Last week’s victory has given the team a confidence boost.
“The guys are really starting to come together,” Mueller said. “They are playing with confidence. You can tell they really care about each other. That is huge to a team’s success. They have each other’s backs and want what’s best for everyone.”
Coppell is expecting a challenge against St. John’s.
“St. John’s is returning a couple key players on defense and at the midfield,” Mueller said. “They will be well coached. We will have a chance to get a look at them on Friday night versus Southlake.”
Ultimately, the Cowboys are keeping their eyes on the prize.
“Our ultimate goal is to be playing our best lacrosse as we enter the playoffs in late April,” Mueller said.
