Leo Club gardening committee donates final harvest to Metrocrest Services

Yaamini Jois, CHS9 Editor

On Thursday, the CHS9 Leo Club gardening committee harvested their final batch of produce at the campus garden, totaling 159 pounds to be donated to Metrocrest Services. According to Coppell ISD agricultural education assistant Larry Thompson, this amount will feed approximately 30 families for a few days if used properly.

Since November, the committee has devoted hours before and after school to cultivating different types of produce in the campus garden. The list is not limited to: kohlrabi, bok choy, garlic, onions, potatoes, chinese cabbage. The group was facilitated by CHS9 biology teacher Hannah Dooley and Thompson.
