On Tuesday night, the Coppell baseball team fell to Flower Mound Marcus, 5-0, at Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex. The game proved to be a difficult one for the Cowboys, who did not have many opportunities to score runs.

The Marauders, in turn, showed a strength in making base hits to score five runs. Marcus senior Hank Harp exemplified this strength, whose hits gave way for  senior Josh Walton and junior Simon McGuire to score runs. Senior Nick Mazzola scored three runs on hits from Harp and senior Caden Sorrell.

“I feel like things didn’t go our way,” Coppell coach Armando Garza said. “[Marcus] hit the ball with two outs a lot and scored a whole bunch. I think that the ball rolled their way.”

Garza thinks that the team can work on base hits for its next game, while Coppell senior infielder Tanner Sever thinks that the team can also increase its energy.

“We need to make sure we’re bringing the energy,” Sever said. “From even before the game, till the very last pitch, and just make sure we’re doing all the little things right.”

The Cowboys play the Marauders again on Friday at Marcus.

“Let’s go get ‘em Friday,” Garza said.
