Tuesday evening’s Coppell City Council meeting was brief in session, beginning with Coppell resident Todd Tarkington citizens’ appearance. The renovation of Waggin’ Tails Dog Park was discussed, including the replacement of park infrastructure.

“We’d like to see the dog park become a safer place, so all of us can be comfortable with taking our pets,” Tarkington said.

A proclamation was signed by Coppell Mayor Wes Mays to celebrate Black History Month during February.

Consent agenda items 7.A – 7.E were previously approved by the council, including city zoning changes, site development for retail and restaurant spaces and appointment of Coppell Recreation Development Corporation officers.

DART is set to begin construction on the beams across South Belt Line Road on Feb. 27. The filing period for the upcoming May 6 election is now open through Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.

Coppell, Lewisville and Flower Mound are hosting a regional neighborhood summit from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday at the Coppell Life Safety Park.
