The crowd watches with baited breath as the ball moves in a flurry across the court. The score inches up as the ball does not touch the ground. Finally, it lands: the match is over.

Yesterday, the Coppell volleyball team played against Flower Mound at the Coppell High School Arena at 7 p.m.

After a back and forth match, Flower Mound won, 3-1. The first and second sets went to Flower Mound, 25-22, 25-16. Coppell took the third set, 25-14. Flower Mound won the last set, 26-24.

The first set began with the teams frequently tying in score and the pattern was set for the rest of the match.

“We had good numbers in serve receive,” Coppell coach Robyn Ross said. “But we had too many errors.”

Coming back from a narrow loss is difficult, but Ross believes it is key to the team’s success.

“Nothing negative has to come from a loss if we let this fuel us to go harder on Tuesday against Plano,” Ross said.

Coppell plays Plano on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
