Mayer finding joy, familiarity in team camaraderie

The Sportlight highlights a male and female JV athlete every Monday and Friday. This week, Coppell freshman Carly Mayer, a JV softball player, was selected.

Coppell freshman pitcher, second baseman and outfielder Carly Mayer has played softball since third grade and a push from her father, John Mayer, made her realize her love for the sport. She was injured in November, delaying her entrance into the softball season, but began playing again in late March.

In addition to her participation in the Coppell High School Band and her fervent love for dogs, Mayer holds her participation in select softball for the American Freedom NTX-Talton team close to her heart and hopes to keep the sport in her life beyond high school.
