The Coppell varsity softball team holds a 13 – 4 record with its recent wins over Plano West and Hebron. They are to play Plano East at the Coppell Softball Complex with play beginning at 7:15 p.m.

The Cowgirls are optimistic about their play as it has greatly improved in communication and team bonding on the field.

“We’ve really bonded as a team,” Coppell junior first baseman Emily Fischetti said. “We’ve been a lot better at knowing each other and things like where we are supposed to be and communicating with each other.”

The Cowgirls bond as a team allowed for quicker communication, and each player knowing their positions better. It has allowed the Cowgirls to play quicker, give advice and help the runners get around the bases faster.

But despite its promise shown in recent games, Fischetti anticipates Plano East to be a challenge.

“There is room for improvement,” she said. “We need to be able to string together hits and move runners across but also on just sticking together and staying positive. These next few games are going to take everything we’ve got.”
