It is the fourth match of District 6-6A play, almost a third of the way through district season, with a record of three district ties. The Cowboys hope to break this streak in a much needed district win against Hebron.

The Cowboys (2-4-5, 0-0-3 in District 6-6A) host Hebron (7-2, 1-2) on Monday at 6 p.m. at Buddy Echols Field. The game was rescheduled from Friday due to inclement weather.

Inclement weather has also affected the Cowboys practice schedule. The team usually practices during first and fifth periods, but with CISD closing campuses Thursday and Friday, practices have also been canceled.

“We already set up a practice schedule outside of school,” Coppell senior forward Pedro Perez said. “We’re going to be doing some running and getting touches on the ball at home. It’s needed and required. [Coppell coach James Balcom is having us] run three miles a day and do 50-100 touches [each] day.”

According to Perez, the Cowboys plan to utilize counterattacks to combat the Hawks slow game-style.

Coppell junior midfielder Ryder Brock, who plays club soccer with a few Hebron players, says there are several key players for the Cowboys to watch out for. According to Brock, Hebron midfielder forward Luke Dean is an attacking player, and is skilful and smart on the ball, junior defender Marco Torres is a defensive player and is good at long balls and clearing the ball and junior midfielder Micah Gonzales is a fast, physical player.
