Tomorrow at the Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex, the Coppell softball team faces Hebron at 7:15 p.m. Its most recent defeat to Flower Mound Marcus on Thursday is reminiscent of its first matchup with the Hawks – also a 4-1 loss.

“We did not hit at all,” Coppell senior catcher Dafne Mercado said. “Our offense was pretty bad.”

Coppell (4-5 in District 6-6A) has seesawed on offense, scoring double digits in some games, such as the March 30 11-3 victory against Plano West, and falling short in others, such as the March 13 5-1 loss against Flower Mound Marcus.

“Hebron has slow pitching, and we just can’t hit slow pitching at all,” Mercado said. “We had a million strikeouts that game, it was just so bad.”

Hebron (7-3) is sitting at third place in the district. With Coppell in fifth place, a win is necessary to keep playoff hopes alive.

“We need to come out and beat them,” Mercado said. “They beat us last time, but they shouldn’t have, so we just want to hit and beat them.”
