With District 6-6A play having begun March 17, the Coppell boys baseball team looks to build its intensity and record after last week’s games during spring break against Plano brought home one Cowboy victory, 13-4, and one loss, 3-2.

“At the plate, the bats weren’t clicking as well as they should have [against Plano],” Coppell senior outfielder/pitcher Will Rodman said. “We have to change our approach and play more as a team, do what you can and then pass it off to the next guy.”

The Cowboys (14-4-1, 1-1 in District 6-6A) host Plano West (3-4, 1-0) in its third game of district play tonight at the Coppell ISD Baseball/Softball Complex, with first pitch at 7:30 p.m.

Plano West brings two key players to the pitch: senior pitchers Nick Moore and Chase Spencer. Both pitchers have committed to play in college, Moore to Texas State and Spencer to the Air Force Academy

“We’re going to see a lot of fastballs,” Rodman said. “We need to be on time and ready for it, [and] be focused in the box and make sure we’re prepared. We can’t let up this week, [this game will] tell us a lot about who we are as a team, we have to come out ready to play.”
