Coming off of a 51-47 win over Flower Mound (7-7, 0-5 in District 6-6A) on Tuesday night, Coppell (10-2, 4-1 in District 6-6A) will take on Plano tomorrow at the CHS Arena with tipoff at 8 p.m.

“It was not our best game at all; we have a lot of stuff to work on and fix for the second round of district,” Coppell junior guard Ryan Agarwal said. “Our team is too good to be sticking with the teams we’ve been hanging around and getting games with.”

Coming into practice Wednesday, Coppell focused on conditioning, play-execution and tightening up its defense so that teams such as Flower Mound do not keep the game close through the fourth quarter.

“We learned that we need to tighten up our defense and start games better,” Coppell junior forward Naz Brown said. “We are working on our transitions and our motion offense: trying to get everyone moving, everyone involved so we play better.”

Coppell holds second place and needs to keep up with undefeated Flower Mound Marcus (12-4, 5-0 in District 6-6A) to earn its third consecutive District 6-6A title.

“There is not going to be another easy path to winning another district title,” Coppell junior guard Devank Rane said. “We have good teams in our district and that we are going to actually have to play a lot better than we did [Tuesday] night to have a chance at three-peating district titles.”
