Coppell tennis will be playing the first bi-district match against Prosper at the T Bar M Racquet Club at 8 p.m. today.

By defeating Flower Mound last Tuesday, Coppell finished second in District 6-6A for the season. Prosper’s win against McKinney Boyd on Thursday earned third place in District 5-6A, resulting in the Coppell-Prosper match up.

“We’re one of the strongest teams in the state on the boys side,” Coppell tennis coach Rich Foster said. “I expect that we’ll win most of the boys side against [Prosper] and it’ll be a lot closer on the girls side.”

Expecting tough competition at bi-district, the girls have continually improved throughout the season according to Coppell senior Riya Reddy.

“With every match, we’re learning how to communicate better,” Reddy said. “We’re also getting more consistent with our strokes and getting better at double faulting.”

According to Foster, this improvement should serve the team well for the remainder of the season.

“Our girls are getting stronger every time they play and if they continue to improve the way they are, we should enjoy a long ride in the playoffs,” Foster said.
