Coppell High School to hold PSAT testing for juniors
PSAT testing for Coppell High School juniors is tomorrow, and all learners who are not taking the test will participate in remote learning. Tomorrow, Coppell High School will administer PSAT testing for registered juniors. All other learners will, including those normally in person, will engage in remote, asynchronous learning for the day.
The PSAT, or the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, is used to give students an idea of how they might perform on the SAT. For juniors, the test is also used to determine National Merit semi-finalists and finalists.
While in person juniors were automatically registered for the exam, virtual learners who wished to participate must have registered by Sept. 14. Registered sophomores will test on Oct. 29.
Test-takers must arrive at CHS by 8:30 a.m. with their ID, an optional calculator, two No.2 pencils, and water or a snack. To comply with COVID-19 safety protocol, testing rooms are limited to 15 learners and all must wear masks and practice social distancing.
As teachers are proctoring the exam, there will not be any Zoom meetings for classes. However, all students must complete the day’s assignments asynchronously by 11:59 p.m
“We don’t know who is going to show up that day or not, so every single person, even the testers, will go onto Schoology and log in their attendance for the day,” Principal Laura Springer said.
After the test concludes around 12:50 p.m., learners must leave campus immediately. Those who are planning on riding the bus home should have completed a sign up form.
