The sound of flags spinning, performers catching their breath and feet hitting the floor is heard at the 2025 North Texas Colorguard Association performance.
This year, the Coppell Color Guard performed its show, “Story for the Ages,” at Coppell High School. This group consists of all grades of high school students working together to produce a creative and successful show.
Coppell received a Scholastic Open Award at the national level competition at finals.
It performs at the North Texas Colorguard Association annually, displaying talents by dancing, spinning flags and using teamwork to show art and athleticism.
“My favorite part about performing in color guard is definitely the environment,” sophomore Kate Sierra said. “It is just such a welcoming environment and I do not think I would want it any other way.”
The joy of being around a community you love can help build strong relationships and find passion in hard work.
Finding excitement in NTCA itself is a quality that Coppell Color Guard possesses.
“This competition is more of a fun run for us, it is to make sure that we show off what we worked so hard on all year and just really appreciate how far we have come,” senior Pia Lala said.
The memories created from competitions can be memorable for seniors with their last few runs. This shows the appreciation and effort put in all the four years of performing.
“For me, this is the last competition ever,” Pia Lala said.
