Tomorrow, in its last week before moving into District 6-6A matches, the Coppell volleyball team faces two teams in the CHS Arena: McKinney Boyd at 5 p.m. and Weatherford at 8 p.m.

Following four matches over the weekend – three victories and one loss – the Cowgirls have had ample opportunity to make adjustments to their play against various opponents.

“We haven’t practiced since our last game, but before that, we had a game at Azle on Tuesday, and from there we got a few points on what we were missing – our coverage for our hitters and aggressive serves and stuff like that,” Coppell senior setter Mari Taira said. “We made time during practice to focus on those little things so we can make it better for the next games.”

Having played neither McKinney Boyd nor Weatherford last season, the matches offer a chance to work on adaptability and reducing predictability.

With two matches tomorrow, two more on Friday and a final one on Saturday, this week is the last chance to work out any kinks before the end of preseason.

“We really need to improve drastically in this tiny period of time, so [these last preseason matches are] really important,” Taira said. “We need to make sure we’re prepared for district.”

Twitter coverage will be done via livestream for both matches.
