The Coppell boys lacrosse team takes on McKinney at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Coppell Middle School North in its second game of the season.

The Cowboys had a strong offensive showing in their last game against Kingwood but they had 10 penalties that allowed Kingwood to go on two offensive runs that put them back in the game.

According to Coppell senior midfielder Jude Hadi, Coppell coach Matt Mueller emphasized the need to straighten up their defensive record going into the rest of the season.

“We need to carry our offensive momentum into Wednesday, we are really clicking as a team in that regard,” Hadi said. “We have to stay composed; sometimes when [the game] gets really intense, we briefly lose control and it costs us.”

According to Hadi, McKinney expects a strong offense from the Cowboys from what it saw playing against Coppell last year.

“There’s no question they will be expecting our attackmen and offensive middies (short for midfielder) as well as our goalie,” Hadi said. “They will underestimate the strength and ability of our defense [and] defensive middies.”
