Outdoor Ed students on April 6 and 7 were able to leave school for a mini fishing field trip. As part of their Bows and Arrows unit, Bill Parker will be taking his classes on 2 separate trips to Andy Brown Park East (close to CHS, off of Parkway) for a half-day fishing expedition.
“I’m pumped because I love fishing,” Scott Van Belois, junior, of sixth period Outdoor Ed said.
This is an annual tradition for Parker and his classes. The trip is always said to be fun and educational –what better learning is there than hands-on learning- and students are usually able to hook fish on the line. Although this year’s field trip yielded no catches, catfish and rainbow trout among other have been caught in previous years.
Students did not have to worry about fishing illegally; Parker made arrangements with the Texas Parks and Wildlife for his classes to fish without fishing licenses for the field trip.
