Samsung Coppell warehouse investing $3.8 million in upgrades
January 24, 2020
After opening a product warehouse in Coppell in 2010, international mobile phone company Samsung Electronics is making renovations worth $3.8 million to its location on 240 Dividend Drive.
“[Samsung] is a very successful company, and they’ve had a great amount of success here in Coppell and have expanded numerous times,” Coppell Director of Community Development Mindi Hurley said. “The additional space just helps them accommodate everything they need to do.”
The leased space will be renovated to include increased office and storage space beneficial to the operation of the location.
“Taking down walls, expanding, bringing in a new racking system; all of that has tremendous cost in order to meet their needs,” Hurley said. “They’re doing some new rollouts of products there so they need the additional space to be able to do that as well.”
The construction follows the company’s consolidation of its Texas offices at the Legacy Central Plano offices in 2019.
“This move not only provides us with an opportunity to create an improved workplace experience for our Texas-based employees, but truly showcases our continued investment in our Texas roots,” Samsung’s North American President/CEO Tim Baxter said in a statement.
The projected expansion will allow Samsung a bigger role in Coppell’s growing business sector, and represents an investment in North Texas at large.
“It excites us whenever a company is satisfied enough with its location and this service that they choose to stay and expand where they are instead of relocate,” Hurley said. “We’re excited about it, and I hope it’s the positive environment here in Coppell that makes businesses stay.”
Construction starts Feb. 3 and will be completed April 30.
