Jund moving to assistant AD role next school year
Springer leaving East to become CHS principal
April 24, 2019
On Monday, Coppell High School Principal Dr. Nicole Jund was announced as the new Coppell ISD assistant athletic director after serving two years leading the CHS campus.
CISD Superintendent Brad Hunt announced the changes in the administrative leadership in a district wide announcement stating “[Jund’s] extensive background in athletics” as well as “campus administrative experience” make her an appropriate fit for the role.
Coppell Middle School East Principal Laura Springer, who has an extensive history at CHS as a former teacher, coach and administrator for an accumulated 22 years, has been named principal at CHS beginning in the 2019-20 school year.
Jund will work alongside current CISD athletic director Kit Pehl, who was promoted from his previous assistant athletic director position in March. The promotion vacated his prior position, now filled by Jund.
“I’m excited. In my role as assistant athletic director the last two years, I’ve gotten to observe her, ” Pehl said. “She has enthusiasm for athletics and is in constant communication with me in a principal role about what she can attend and making sure our entire staff at CHS knew about what was going on athletically with updates. She’s got a passion for athletics that she has shown me even though it wasn’t her primary role at the time.”
Pehl expects collaboration with Jund in making preparations for upcoming seasons in the summer.
“I’m ready to get her going,” Pehl said. “Once she gets in, she’s going to hit the ground running.”
According to Hunt, Jund has a seasoned past in athletics, as she is a former state champion, head soccer coach at The Colony and girls wrestling coach and was named Coach of the Year by The Dallas Morning News in 2007.
Current CMS East assistant principal Steve Glover will replace Springer as the principal of CMS East with CMS East assistant principal Brandon McGill working alongside him.
