Coppell High School’s International Baccalaureate program held a garage sale on April 3 in order to raise money for the Three Cups of Tea charity.
IB students donated their unwanted clothing and other items to the sale and volunteered to run the actual event from 6:45 to 12:00 on Saturday. Signs and flyers were posted around the community and high school to raise awareness. Twenty-two out of the 47 students in IB helped run the garage sale.
“We made $990.98 which is well over our goal for the year,” Junior Mitali Satheye said.
Three Cups of Teas is an organization that funds schools for girls in Pakistan and is the IB program’s international project of the year. The goal of the garage sale was to raise eight-hundred dollars that would pay one teacher’s salary in Pakistan.
“I thought it was a substantial way to raise money for girls in other countries,” Junior Audrey Eichenberger said.
There will be one more fundraisers before the end of the year from the IB students to raise money for Three Cups of Tea.
