Robbery on Denton Tap, $1,000 reward posted
December 3, 2018
On Nov. 26, Jersey Mike’s on Denton Tap Road was held up at gunpoint by a lone armed robber.
The robbery occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Monday, only 15 minutes before close, and according to the police, the same suspect is known to have committed a similar robbery in Irving just two weeks earlier.
“This guy just walked in and demanded we hand over the money,” Jersey Mike’s manager Omar Salazar said. “Our employees did very good under the circumstances. They followed the protocol and didn’t put themselves in danger or try to be a hero. But that kind of thing doesn’t really happen. It’s the first one we have ever had at this location.”
In total, the armed robber collected around $2,500 between the register and safe below the counter. The armed robber exited the restaurant and fled on foot as employees notified the police.
“At this time, the case is still active so no additional information will be released,” Coppell Police spokesman Sammy Lujan said. “The [Coppell PD social media posting] is to help identify the suspect.”
The Coppell Police Department posted on Twitter there is an up to $1,000 reward to any person who can bring forth valuable information about the robbery suspect.
The armed robber wore a distinctive designer hoodie that led police to connect this robbery to the other robbery committed in Irving a few weeks ago. According to Lujan, Coppell and Irving police departments are teaming up in order to find and arrest the unidentified man.
The lone armed robber has been able to evade the authorities twice, as they have been searching for him for nearly three weeks. His name and address are unknown.
