Treatment in comfort: New emergency room opens in Coppell
October 19, 2017
Local residents needing medial attention can now benefit from the services – and hotel-like environment – of Coppell ER. The facility officially opened on Thursday.
“Here at this emergency room, the doctor spends a lot of time with the patients and so the majority of the care that’s done here is by the doctor which is unusual for an emergency room so that is something unique about us,” Coppell ER chief nursing officer Laurie Guerrero said.
All doctors are board certified in emergency medicine.
“Our main goal is to able to add services to the Coppell community,” Dr. Harvey Castro said. “All our doctors are ER board certified, meaning we can handle emergencies, heart attacks, strokes, we can deliver babies, we can intubate, we can open your chest and bring you back to life, there’s all these things we can do as emergency medicine doctors. We can also do simple stuff like sore throats, flu like symptoms, and we take care of the whole spectrum. We take care of little kids, elderly, so basically one stop for all your medical emergency needs.”
The doctors are invested in their work and helping out the community.
“My favorite part is the fact that people come in worried and concerned that they have an emergency, potentially something life threatening, you get to be the one to help treat that, calm their fears and/or take care of them to try to prevent some emergency going on,” Dr. Robert Holland said.
The building resembles the appearance of a hotel rather than a medical facility, with its comfortable lobby, coffee bar and children’s area.
“We also offer lots of amenities to the patients so if they came to the hospital and they didn’t pack a bag, then we have all that stuff for you,” Guerrero said. “Not just a hospital gown, they want to wear PJ pants and a T-shirt. OK, we’ll give you that instead of a hospital gown to change into. So that just makes it a little bit nicer.”
Coppell ER is located on 720 N. Denton Tap Rd. and is open 24/7.

This is a full Emergency room. We are not an urgent care. We are open 24/7 and can handle all emergencies. We look forward to working with the Coppell community. Feel free to use us as a health resource.
