Cowgirls volleyball defeat Lake Highlands at home

The Cowgirls volleyball team plays their homecoming game against Lake Highlands on Friday night in the arena. The Cowgirls won all three sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-21.

The Coppell Cowgirls volleyball team defeated the Lake Highlands Lady Wildcats, 25-23, 25-19, 25-21, Friday night at the CHS Arena in its eight District 9-6A match.

 

In the first set, the Cowgirls (31-3 overall, 8-0 in district)  came out dominating and never looked back. It began with both teams going back and forth, until Coppell was able to rally and win, 25-23.

 

In the second set, the Cowgirls continued to trade points with the Wildcats to stay within two points for most of the set. However, Coppell was once again able to pull through with big plays by sophomore middle blocker Peyton Minyard, winning the second set 25-19.

 

In the third set, Coppell took a six point lead, nearing the end of the match, Lake Hindland was looking to come back but the Cowgirls were able to sweep the match

 

In the victory, Coppell coach Julie Green was impressed by the team’s performance, but still believes improvements are needed to be made.

 

“We have to really work on serving, but the girls came out today and looked much better,” Green said.

 

The Cowgirls will play Dallas Skyline on Tuesday at home starting at 6:30 p.m.
