Cowboys travel to Richardson in journey to playoffs

Going into the fifth game of the season, the Coppell Cowboys football team looks for its second district win when it takes on J.J. Pearce.

The Pearce Mustangs (2-2) host the Cowboys (3-1) tonight at 7:30 at Eagle-Mustang Stadium in Richardson.

In last week’s game against the Jesuit Rangers, the Cowboys used a high scoring first half to take a commanding lead. However, the Rangers were able to close the gap in the second half but the Cowboys responded to secure the win.

“We feel like we can run the football on [J.J. Pearce]. That is always going to be a goal,” Coppell coach Mike DeWitt said.

Much like last week, the Cowboys are going to utilize their run game in an attempt to throw off Pearce’s three-four defense (three defensive linemen and four linebackers).
