Last friday, Coppell High School’s varsity tennis team played against Liberty Christian at the CHS Tennis Center, winning 18-1 in District 9-6A.

Throughout the doubles matches, senior Megh Pandhi and Yash Reddy were one of the doubles partners who stood out.

“We decided to move some players up the line and choose to pair these two together,” Coppell varsity tennis coach Rich Foster said. “Despite the fact that these two haven’t played together at all this year, they managed to work together and dominate their opponents, 6-3,6-4.”

In the singles matches, senior Nayana Menon stepped up against the line 1 opponent from Liberty Christian and dominated them, 6-0,6-0.

Similarly, senior Arvind Arunachalam usually plays line 4 but coach Foster put him against the line 1 player from Liberty Christian and he beat them,8-4.

“We had some tough matches on the boys side as our opponent’s boys team was strong down the line,” Foster said. “I decided to take some of our top players out and moved some kids like Arvind up. Those boys did a really great job of stepping up and I am proud of them, especially Arvind for taking on the line 1 player.

“Looking at where our team is going, if we maintain focus like we have been,” Foster said. “I definitely know that we can go further in the playoffs than we ever have been.”
