The Coppell Cowgirls swept the Richardson Eagles in a dominant performance winning all three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-20) last night in the CHS arena in District 9-6A volleyball action.

At the beginning of the the set, the Cowgirls (24-3 overall, 3-0 in district) continuously gave the Lady Eagles several points, due to a slow offensive start. Coppell quickly responded and never looked back, the offense was scoring and Richardson couldn’t handle the Cowgirls offense. The Cowgirls dominated the first game winning 25-18.

The second game started with the Cowgirls scoring first, leading the Lady Eagles 5-1. Eventually the Lady Eagles answered and both teams kept scoring back and forth. The Cowgirls picked up the momentum at the end and managed to win the second game, 25-19.

Looking to sweep the Lady Eagles, most of the third set resulted in both teams continually kept scoring and the Cowgirls struggling a bit on defense. The set was tied at 17-17, and the Cowgirls made one last push to put away the Eagles, 25-20.

Coppell coach Julie Green is confident that the Cowgirls will improve.

“The was a big win for us today,” Green said. “Richardson is a very good team in our division, and we are gonna get better as the season moves on”.

Coppell plays at Lake Highlands on Tuesday.
