Last weekend, the Coppell Cowgirls volleyball team (21-3 overall) competed at the KSA Events Fall Classic Volleyball Tournament in Orlando, Fla. finishing 7-0 and winning the tournament overall.

Throughout the weekend, the Cowgirls played seven matches against teams from around the country including several from the DFW area. They defeated Bishop Lynch High School in finals (25-19, 20-25, 26-28) to win the tournament.

Though it was a varsity tournament, the Cowgirls pulled up juniors Addison Brown, April Cannon and Cloe Lindbeck as well as sophomore Kinsey Bailey to make a team of 16 for the weekend.

For coach Julie Green, the tournament was a valuable opportunity to see the way volleyball is played in different states.

“It was really interesting to see you’re playing teams from out of state because their rules are different and to see teams from other places was just really cool,” Green said.

With district matches starting today at Richardson Berkner, the team looks to improve blocking throughout its matches and next week it will host its annual Dig for the Cure match against Richardson Pearce benefitting the Susan G Komen Foundation.
