EarthFest to bring environmental awareness, spring fun
April 15, 2016
Earth Day only comes once a year, and Coppell celebrates in a unique way.
Each year, the Coppell community comes together to celebrate the nature around us with Earthfest, which will be held at Town Center Plaza on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Earthfest aims to spread environmental awareness through offering services such as document shredding and bulk trash disposal as well as providing interactive booths about environmental education.
Coppell High School junior and co-president of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Club Rutuja Joshi will be attending the event with the group. They will be hosting games, giving out raffle tickets, and selling various drinks. All of the proceeds that the UNICEF Club gathers from the event will be donated to the UNICEF USA Fund for Water.
“I’m most excited to spread awareness for both our club and our purpose,” Joshi said. “[Earthfest] is a great way to connect with the community as well.”
In addition to all things environmental, the festival will offer food trucks, live music by Definitely, Maybe, photo booths and arts and crafts stations to entertain the kids.
