Cult-classic show to set high expectations

On March 9, be ready for this queen-comedy hit television series to appear on your screen. Logo TV recently posted its promotional video for the season eight premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” a reality-television/game show where 12 drag queens from all over North America compete in challenges to win $100,000, as well as other special prizes.

The drag queen contestants will be competing in challenges involving acting, singing, dancing, scripting comedy shows and creating costumes for the runway. When they are being critiqued after the challenge is finished and the runway show is complete, two queens are selected for elimination. In the elimination round, they do what every drag queen must do in their career – lip sync for their life. The queen with the best lip sync can stay while the other has to pack their stuff and go home.

Last season’s winner and “next drag superstar of America” was 23-year-old Violet Chachki, a drag queen from Atlanta, famous for her sense of beauty, fashion and her ability to read the queens to filth. Chachki is now a dancer, singer and a model, as well as continuing her now fame-filled career in drag.

Now RuPaul, being the ultimate queen of drag, started off this season with her ad campaign which includes a promotional video for the season.

“This season I’m going back to my roots, and you could probably use a touch up too henny,” Rupaul says in the video. The video carried a 60s hairspray salon theme and all the fans can’t wait for the show to be a real eleganza.
