The world’s most popular video site is planning to charge its users to watch videos. YouTube is considering introducing a movie rental system similar to Apple’s iTunes and Netflix.
Five films from the Sundance Festival will be available for online rental beginning Fri., Jan. 22. YouTube will offer Bass Ackwards, The Cove, One Too Many Mornings, Homewrecker and Children of Invention to its viewers for $4 each until Jan. 31
Eventually, this fledgling video rental program will include mainstream fare from Hollywood as well as independent filmmakers.
