After having to cancel its show due to bad weather two weeks ago, the Coppell High School Drumline is excited to present its annual show, Purely Rhythmic, Saturday at 7 p.m.
This show gives the percussionists a chance to show off their skills often hidden behind other louder instruments when playing in the fall. While some go to support their friends, others go for the music, but a two hour show of purely percussion music might not sound too appealing to some.
Senior Jeanna Carlsson has been attending the show for the past three years and explained why she plan to continue that tradition this Saturday.
“I go to Purely Rhythmic because the music is awesome and it’s a great opportunity to see the talent that my friends and other fellow students have,” Carlsson said.
While the drumline is more well known for its part in the band or the way they get the crowd excited for state sendoffs, this gives the percussionists not only a chance to show off their skills, but the art of percussion itself.
“Percussion is cool because there are so many different instruments that fall into that category, so there’s a ton of variety at the concert and you never know what you’re going to hear,” Carlsson said.
