A packed house filled up the Coppell High School auditorium Thursday night to witness the CHS choir perform their much anticipated winter concert.
Students and parents alike were treated to stunning performances of some Christmas classics, such as “We Wish You A
Merry Christmas” and the beautiful show closer “Home For Christmas”.
“The directors chose the set list based off of what they thought would work best for our voices and I think it worked out really well,” junior choir member Victoria Kennedy said.
Not once was there a dull moment, as one of the four choirs would finish a performance on the risers, another would begin a song on the side of the stage, making for many remarkably seamless transitions throughout the night.
“We practiced every weekday leading up to the show,” junior choir member Jaden Ferguson said.
The preparation was quite evident throughout the terrific performance.
“I was especially impressed with the freshman girls performance,” junior choir member J.C. Human said. “They really stepped it up to a whole new level.”
Staying true to the winter theme, the auditorium stage featured a Christmas tree on each side of the stage, tying the stage together into a very nice looking winter themed presentation. Along with winter, another theme was made evident by choir director Josh Brown.
“This is the shortest show we’ve done during my time here,” Brown announced to the crowd before the final song.
While short for choir standards, the show still treated the crowd to an hour’s worth of Christmas classics, and included a reception before the final song in which Brown and assistant choir director Casey Caruth were honored for their excellent
work by the choir boosters, led by booster president Donna McQuian.
“It was just a great all around performance and I’m very proud of everyone,” Humen said, perfectly summing up the evening.
