Tomorrow is an exciting day for Coppell High School staff and students who will soon embark on a week-long Thanksgiving break. However, amidst the holiday frenzy, The North Texas Food Bank, Student Council and Coppell Independent School District would like the community to turn their focus to those who are not as fortunate.
The Student Council is hosting the 19th annual Turkey Drive. Bring a frozen turkey and drop it off at one of the main CHS entrances before school or order one online for a family in need.
“Every CISD campus is apart of the Turkey Drive, which is a great thing to help relieve families at Thanksgiving time,” CHS Principal Mike Jasso said. “When you and I think of Thanksgiving we think of food and being with family, but food can be kind of the centerpiece of that, so for families that might not be fortunate enough to have the means to get that it can be very powerful to help them.”
Not only will students be lending a helpful hand to those in need, but some extracurricular groups and all fourth period classes are in competition to donate the most turkeys in order to win special privileges like a pizza lunch.
