The Sugar Bowl was over before it started. It was over as soon as the two teams were matched up on bowl selection Sunday. Florida was bigger, faster, better coached and wanted it a lot more.
Tim Tebow and the Gators go out in style, the face of college football had a BCS record 533 yards, passing Vince Young who had 467 total yards in the 2006 national championship in the 51-24 romping of Cinncinati.
The Bearcats accumulated just 19 yards in the first quarter, to Florida’s 152. Quarterback Tony Pike was rushed, hurried and sacked all game long as the Gator’s speed on the defensive line proved to be too much for Cinncinati’s offensive line.
Budding receiving star and dangerous return man for the Bearcats, Marty Gilyard was held to seven catches for just 41 yards and no kick returns for touchdowns.
Overall bowl picks record: 14-16, ouch.
