The Coppell High School Theatre Department is back with another great musical. CHS theatre students have been preparing for the fall musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie” which opens on Friday and plays on Saturday, Sunday, Nov. 1 and 2.
“I’m looking forward to it being a fabulous show,” CHS theatre director Lisa Tabor said. “The students have worked really hard.”
The musical is set in New York where tap dance plays a big part in the characters’ lives.
“We took a bunch of girls who have never tap danced in their life and now they’re doing an outstanding job,” Tabor said.
Senior Sheridan Miller plays the lead female, Millie Dillmont. Miller and the rest of the cast have rehearsed for the musical
for the past eight weeks in addition to preparing over the summer.
“I practiced a lot for this role,” Miller said. “When I got it, it was hard to memorize it all. It was a different experience since it will be the first time that I will be performing in an opening number.”
In the musical, Miller plays a character who desires to be the epitome of modern. In a magazine she reads, Millie sees that to have a modern marriage, one has to marry their boss. Millie then goes to New York so she can marry a rich boss.
“My favorite part of the musical is opening night since the adrenaline kicks in,” Miller said. “I know it will be so much fun and I can’t wait.”
Tickets can be found in the commons during lunch or can be bought one hour prior to the musical in front of the auditorium. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students. For more information, check out the CHS Theater Department’s website here.
